Job summary

LMC Healthcare is hiring a Medical Assistant/Medical Office Administrator for the Barrie clinic at 370 Bayview Dr, Barrie, ON. The role combines clinical and administrative duties and supports a multidisciplinary diabetes/endocrinology team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for evaluation, document medical history, and record vitals.
  • Review medication lists and patient medical history in EMR.
  • Coordinate patient flow and provider schedules in the clinic.
  • Ensure investigations are available and liaise with facilities.
  • Cross-train with other departments to assist as needed.
  • Check-in/check-out duties and manage calls, voicemails, and emails.
  • Upload faxes/scans and manage office supplies.

Our 50+ Endocrinologists, many of whom are nationally renowned for their areas of expertise, are supported by an interdisciplinary team of highly qualified professionals.

Our growing team is looking for a Medical Assistant/Medical Office Administrator who can work for us on a temporary full-time basis (6 months) supporting our LMC Barrie clinic (370 Bayview Dr, Barrie, ON).

Medical Assistant
  • Prepares the patient for the provider’s evaluation, which includes but is not limited to: documenting medical history, measuring vital signs, and recording the information in the patient's chart appropriately.
  • Reviews the patient’s medication list for accuracy, and records patient’s social and medical history in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Coordinates the flow of patients within the clinic to ensure the efficient use of the facility and the providers’ schedules.
  • Ensures that patient’s required investigations are available and liaises with medical facilities or by means of electronic software.
  • Promotes comprehensive and coordinated patient care by ensuring that the patient has access to, and is aware of, the entire LMC multidisciplinary team
  • Prepares the examination rooms with necessary medical and office supplies
  • Downloads various diabetes devices
  • Attends required departmental and companywide meetings
  • Assists with various administrative duties, as assigned
  • Individuals in this position will be cross trained by other departments to be able to assist them should the need arise
Medical Office Administrator
  • Performs check-in and check-out duties
  • Manages phone calls, voicemails and patient emails
  • Maintains providers' schedule including confirming, scheduling and provider templates
  • Reviews and updates patient's health records
  • Coordinates the patients' visits across LMC's multidisciplinary services
  • Ensures that patients' required investigations are available and liaises with medical facilities or by means of electronic software
  • Assisting with scheduling referrals and diagnostic service appointments for all patients
  • Uploads Faxes and Scans in a timely manner
  • Addresses patients' concerns or inquiries
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail, and shipments
  • Maintains and orders the office and medical supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Responds to physician-assigned tasks and inquiries
  • Processes patient's accounts receivables and payable (credit card, debit, and cash payments)
  • Completes third party forms and letters in compliance with legal requirements
  • Attends required departmental and companywide meetings
  • Assists with various administrative duties, as assigned
  • Medical Assistant support, as needed
  • Individuals in this position will be cross trained by other departments to be able to assist them should the need arise
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Personal Support Worker, Medical Laboratory or Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Nurse
  • Experience working in a medical office environment
  • Proficient in medication review
  • Proficient knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficient computer and typing skills
Compensation range

The expected compensation for the position is $20-$23/hourly. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's credentials, experience and geographic location in which the position is located.
