Durham College in Oshawa is seeking a part-time Medical Administration Clerk for a temporary assignment from October 2026 to March 2027. The role is based in the Campus Health Centre and offers an hourly rate of $30.43 with up to 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The incumbent will support reception, clerical duties, insurance billing and patient data management under the Campus Health and Wellness Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Campus Health Centre.

Qualifications

  • Two-year diploma or equivalent in Medical Office Administration.
  • Three years of work experience in a medical office environment.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures/terminology and third party billing.
  • Use of medical EMR system required.

Responsibilities

  • Reception, clerical and customer service support; triaging and billing duties.
  • Respond to inquiries by phone, email and in person; greet clients and refer as needed.
  • Schedule calendars/appointments for clinic, lab, physicians, nurses and external providers.
  • Maintain medical records following Centre policy and provincial guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Office Manager of the Campus Health andWellness Centre, the incumbent provides office and administrative dutieswhich include reception, clerical and customer service support, triaging,insurance billing and reconciling duties.
  • Provides a high degree of customer service in a timely manner, whileresponding to inquiries by telephone, electronically and in person. Greetclients by phone, electronically and in person. Follow-up on referralssent by physician through clinic EMR, inform clients of office policiesand record patient data.
  • Schedules multiple calendars and appointment schedules for themedical clinic, lab, physicians, clinic nurses, mental health workers, andexternal providers/partnerships.
  • Prepares and maintains medical records in accordance with CampusCentre policy, Ontario Health Information, Health Information CustodianProtection Act and guidelines set by the Ontario Medical Association.
  • Billing and collection through student insurance companies, studentaccounts using accounting standards and procedures in accordance withDC/Ontario Tech finance department. Dealing with third party insurancesuch as WSIB.
  • Utilizes a variety ofsoftware programs.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a 2-year diploma or equivalent in Medical Office Administration.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a medical office environment.
  • Customer services specifically related to medical practice, e.g., assisting patients in crisis. Knowledge of medical procedures/medical terminology and alternate service billing.
  • Use of medical EMR system required.
  • Some accounting background an asset.
  • Knowledge of insurance companies and third party billing an asset.
