Job summary

Swissport in Mississauga is seeking a Mechanics Helper to support our aviation ground fleet. You will be in the field, inspecting vehicles and equipment, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with basic repairs to ensure reliable operation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain stock of parts and maintenance items in the vehicle.
• Record maintenance data and meter readings as required.

Job Summary As a Mechanics Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting operations by keeping vehicles and equipment safe and in good working order. Your technical skills and attention to detail will contribute to the overall success of our team and ensure the smooth running of our fleet. You will always be present in the field (this is a man in the van type of role). Mechanics Helper Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify mechanical problems and determine necessary repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking fluids (engine oil, transmission oil, Preston and hydraulic oil) and lubricating components.
• Respond to service calls requiring basic repairs and/or replacement of faulty parts (light bulbs, battery, tyre plugs) - Perform safety checks including checking fluid levels, tyre condition, fire extinguishers, seat belts, lights, etc. as required by Swissport Global Fleet.
• Maintain a sufficient stock of parts and consumables required for repairs and maintenance in the Swissport provided maintenance vehicle.
• Read and record equipment hour meters and/or odometers.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs carried out on equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to minimise accidents and injuries.
• Other duties as required.

Mechanics Helper Required Skills

• Previous experience as a Mechanics Helper or similar role is preferred.
• Valid driving licence with a clean driving record.
• General knowledge and understanding of automotive systems and components.
• Time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
• QHSE knowledge and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
• Basic computer skills to record and access maintenance data.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
