Job description

Are you a Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologist eager to roll up your sleeves and build something that matters? Evercloak is looking for an enthusiastic, hands‑on builder to support physical development of our product and accelerate our mission in clean tech.

The Mechanical Technologist will support the development, prototyping, testing, and validation of Evercloak’s new and modified mechanical components and assemblies. They will work closely with the materials and engineering teams to develop test methods, prepare prototypes and test fixtures, conduct performance testing, analyze test results, identify design or performance issues, and provide technical recommendations to support product development and continuous improvement.

What Does Evercloak Do?

As the world’s population continues to grow, the demand for sustainable energy, clean water, and food intensifies. Meeting these essential needs without accelerating climate change is one of humanity’s greatest challenges.

Evercloak's vision is to leverage cutting‑edge graphene technologies to reinvent the energy, clean water, and food solutions needed for a growing population, while protecting the planet. Our first focus is simple and bold: cooling the planet sustainably. By starting here, we deliver energy‑efficient cooling solutions that safeguard health and well‑being in a warming world.

What Would I Be Doing?

As Evercloak’s Mechanical Technologist, you will:

  • Assist engineers and designers in the development, refinement, and fabrication of new mechanical components, assemblies, and production‑intent parts.

  • Support mechanical design and drafting efforts by creating or updating 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software for prototype components, test fixtures, and custom tooling.

  • Utilize rapid prototyping techniques and 3D printing equipment (FDM) to fabricate custom components, iteration models, and specialized test fixtures.

  • Build, modify, and evaluate prototypes and test assemblies, proactively identifying potential manufacturability, assembly, or performance concerns early in product development.

  • Participate in design reviews and present empirical findings, verifying that prototypes meet defined performance specifications and requirements.

  • Develop, establish, and execute test protocols, setups, and procedures to rigorously evaluate new design performance against technical specifications and legacy benchmarks.

  • Operate mechanical testing equipment and data‑acquisition (DAQ) systems, ensuring experiments are executed consistently, accurately, and according to established requirements.

  • Collect, organize, and analyze multi‑sensor test data, preparing clear technical reports that detail test methods, key results, observations, and data‑driven conclusions.

  • Design, build, and modify custom test fixtures, tooling, and specialized instrumentation setups required for component and system‑level evaluation.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure measurement systems, instrumentation, and sensors are properly calibrated and operational.

  • Continuously optimize test methods and lab workflows to improve testing efficiency, data accuracy, and procedural repeatability.

What Are We Looking For

Evercloak is looking for a Mechanical Technologist who:

  • Is motivated to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization.

  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, anticipating project needs and structuring workflows effectively.

  • Is adaptable and quickly adjusts to situations efficiently.

  • Brings positive energy, initiative, and a solution‑oriented mindset to the team.

  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Has strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills to identify process or quality issues.

  • Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively across team.

Your Background Likely Includes:
  • A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Mechanical Engineering, Thermal/Fluid Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or prototyping role, including co‑op or internship experience.

  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience in experimental testing, prototype validation, lab bench setups, and working with mechanical components or physical test rigs.

  • Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies (e.g., slicing software, printer operation, post‑processing, material selection) is a plus.

  • Proficiency in mechanical design and 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or Fusion 360, OnShape) is a strong plus.

  • Working knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, environmental controls, or thermal management equipment.

  • Understanding of core thermal‑fluid principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mass transport phenomena (e.g., airflow, pressure drop, humidity, heat transfer).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (for data organization, basic formulas, and plotting) and Word (for drafting clear technical reports and test documentation).

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset, with a practical approach to problem‑solving and a high attention to detail during testing and data collection.

What Else Should I Know?
  • This is a 12‑month, contract position, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role.
