Job summary

TRITAN Group Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor for a major general contractor in Collingwood, Ontario. You will direct mechanical crews on-site, coordinate with project teams, and ensure safety and quality across self-performed projects.

The role requires 10–15 years of construction experience with at least 5 years in supervision, a college diploma or Red Seal, and strong computer and scheduling skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15 years construction experience with 5+ years in supervision.
• College Diploma or Red Seal Tradesman.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook; Blue Beam.
• Knowledge of scheduling software and plumbing code understanding is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct on-site mechanical crews and sub-trades to ensure quality.
• Develop and coordinate the overall project schedule with the team.
• Manage collaboration among Mechanical Division, project team, owners, architects, suppliers, and consultants.

Job description

We have a great opportunity with one of the largest General contractors specializing in heavy civil/structural concrete, waterworks, and ICI projects, for a Mechanical Supervisor on their team in Simcoe County (Collingwood, ON). Our client is an employee-owned and self-performing general contractor with projects across the country. The Mechanical Supervisor is required to successfully complete self-performed Mechanical projects on time and on budget, in accordance with plans and specifications, in cooperation with the Mechanical Project Manager and the overall project team assigned to the project.

Roles and responsibilities

• Direct the work of mechanical crews and sub-trades on-site to ensure the quality of the mechanical work performed.
• Work in conjunction with the mechanical project team to develop the overall project schedule for the Mechanical work and ensure that this is coordinated with the project team.
• Manage collaboration among the Mechanical Division, the project team, Owners, Architects, Suppliers, and Consultants.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures in daily operations.
• Review and monitor Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to ensure compliance with process and safety requirements.
• Manage and foresee potential problems in design/construction.
• Maintain and revise the schedule monthly as required.
• Develop a three-week work schedule, assist mechanical subcontractor(s) with scheduling their work, and provide direction as needed.
• Coordinate equipment and manpower to achieve schedule requirements.
• Verify and audit site costs against the budget.
• Provide input for monthly billing, trade billings and weekly quantity reports for labour cost.
• Monitor and provide direction for as-built drawings.
• Assist in the development of site logistics, including layout of site access and lay-down areas.
• Continual review of the Contract Drawings to identify discrepancies between the various disciplines.
• Review and approve process pipe and spool drawings.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10-15 years of construction-related experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role, is required.
• College Diploma or Red Seal Tradesman
• Strong Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Blue Beam), and knowledge of scheduling software, TSSA/ASME, plumbing code and estimating is an asset;
• High-level technical understanding, as it relates to the construction industry;
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with the hourly workforce, trades and suppliers.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, as it relates to the construction industry.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and the trade contractor’s scope.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, and offer leadership to staff and sub-trades.
