Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Trainee New Graduate, reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer. You will support projects globally from the Niagara Falls office with potential opportunities to work in other Hatch offices and at project job sites.

The role focuses on applying engineering principles to equipment design for industrial buildings and processes, with mentorship, field verification, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be working toward graduating in 2027, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Academic or work experience with Mechanical software is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently applying engineering principles to perform calculations for mechanical equipment design for industrial buildings and processes.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to share results and insights across Hatch groups.
  • Prepare equipment specification packages and construction work packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Gain familiarity with mechanical equipment, analytical software and piping systems relevant to project work.
  • Participate in office and site safety training and provide field support during construction.

Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Trainee New Graduate, reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer you will support projects globally working from the Niagara Falls office with potential opportunities to work in other Hatch offices and at project job sites.

The Mechanical groupis comprised of a group of professional engineers, designers and technologists. We are looking for a new or recent Mechanical Engineering graduate to join our group that is eager to be involved in complex small and large-scale mining and other industry type projects, who can demonstrate their keen problem-solving skills in developing practical solutions. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and within a team environment.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work independently applying engineering principles to perform calculations for mechanical equipment design for industrial buildings and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and / or other Hatch groups
  • Prepare equipment specification packages, and construction work packages to be checked by senior colleagues to be used by internal and external stakeholders
  • Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, analytical software and tools, piping systems and specifications, discipline workflows and execution, and other industrial components / processes you are assigned to assess
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities
  • Perform field verification and provide field support during construction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

You bring to the role:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Previous relevant coop and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical engineering is an asset
  • Academic or work experience with Mechanical software AFT Fathom, Ansys, Sidewinder, MathCAD, and Bentley MicroStation CAD software is an asset.

Compensation:

Range: $78,000.00 - $81,000.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
