Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student for its Mississauga head office starting Spring 2027 for a 16-month co-op. You will apply mechanical design knowledge, perform finite element analyses, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative cooling and furnace equipment.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Directly apply and develop knowledge in mechanical design
  • Perform finite element analysis on various furnace components and systems, including thermal analysis of cooling system elements;
  • Co-ordinate designs with a multi-disciplinary team including structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of various types of mechanical equipment and technologies, including copper coolers, electrode columns and furnace sealing equipment;
  • Perform calculations for a variety of mechanical systems including machinery components, hydraulic systems, and cooling water systems;
  • Become familiar in reviewing fabrication and construction drawings; and
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills

You bring to the role:

  • Must be 3rd or 4th year in a Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university

Compensation:

Range: $25.00 - $33.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
