Job summary

Hatch seeks a Mechanical Engineering Student for an internship starting January 2027 at our Niagara Falls, Ontario office. You will support mechanical and piping engineering work on global projects and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic PDG team.

You will report to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer, collaborate with diverse teams, and develop skills through mentorship and formal development programs while advancing your professional designation.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
  • Strong academic performance and active involvement in extracurriculars/volunteer activities.
  • Experience with electrical design calculations or power systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables for a variety of projects.
  • Assist with mechanical engineering detailed design and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams locally and globally; participate in design reviews and site inspections.

Hatch is seeking aMechanical Engineering Studentfor an internship starting January 2027, with interest in Mechanical & Piping engineering. Reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer, you will support projects globally working from ourNiagara Falls, Ontariooffice.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables for a variety of projects.
  • Assist with mechanical engineering detailed design and deliverables.
  • Become knowledgeable with mechanical design and their practical applications, regional codes and standards (CSA, ASME, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.), various engineering design tools and applications, and Hatch’s quality procedures.
  • Work collaboratively in a multi-discipline environment to deliver the best solution for our clients.
  • Assist our senior engineers and designers with their responsibilities including but not limited to checking engineering deliverables, attending design reviews, quality reviews, and participating in site inspections and walkdowns.

You bring to the role:

  • 3rd or 4th year student enrolled in a Bachelor, Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited University.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Previous co-op or work experience in mechanical engineering design and execution will be considered an asset.
  • Technical experience with electrical design calculations, power system modeling tools and software, ability to use data-centric design tools, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) will be preferred.

Compensation:

Range: $25.00 - $33.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
