Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment to join our team in Calgary or Edmonton, AB. The role centers on greenfield and brownfield projects involving rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines and blowers/fans.

You will deliver safe, quality engineering aligned with project schedules and budgets. Qualified candidates possess a mechanical engineering degree and are a licensed P.Eng with APEGA, with extensive rotating equipment experience in oil and gas,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering with rotating equipment experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA.
  • Experience in refinery, carbon capture/utilization, gas processing, hydrogen.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, sustainable engineering, quality, cost and schedule of the work.
  • Perform mechanical work focusing on rotating equipment.
  • Review the work of junior engineers and supervise teams as needed.
  • Conduct site visits and participate in on-site meetings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and manage vendor documentation.

Role Purpose

We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment to join our team in either Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB. The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment position will take on a key engineering role in both greenfield and brownfield projects involving rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines and blowers/fans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the safe/sustainable engineering, quality, cost, and scheduled delivery of all work by the discipline.
  • Complete mechanical technical work for projects with a focus on supporting rotating equipment.
  • Review / checking the work of subordinate engineers.
  • Perform administrative functions including implementation of management policies and procedures, implements the Company and Customers Procedures while seeking improvements to work processes and business approaches to better serve the project needs, supervision of low/moderate sized teams.
  • Conduct site visits to operational facilities and participate in in-person meetings on location.
  • Manage and review vendor documentation for compliance and accuracy.
  • Represent single point of contact with the vendors for engineering activities.
  • Work within a team framework of other disciplines and understand the broad organizational implications of the work being performed.
  • Coordinate project requirements with other disciplines, project staff and clients.
  • Maintain quality deliverables throughout the procurement of the equipment.
  • Support workshare activities with overseas offices on deliverables related to Rotating Equipment.
  • Develop/support hour estimation, TIC estimates, deliverable requirements, and personnel loading for scope of the project pertinent to Rotating Equipment.
  • Support or fill-in for the Mechanical lead as requested.
Technical and Industry Experience

Experience in refinery, carbon capture and utilization, gas processing, green/blue hydrogen, unconventional oil.

Extensive rotating equipment experience with at significant experience in brownfield revamps of rotating equipment.

Conversant with industry codes and standards, such as ASME and API, including API-610, -611, -614, -617, -618 and -672, -673, -675 and -676.

Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.

Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.

Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and mechanical engineering specific software.

Extensive technical and practical experience in mechanical engineering including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
Required:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering with extensive rotating equipment experience in oil and gas facilities.

Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
