Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Ontario plastics manufacturing operation. The role involves mechanical design, equipment installation, startup support, and hands-on project engineering to optimize processes and reduce waste.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and project teams to implement automation initiatives and ensure compliance with safety standards while delivering reliable equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 0–5 years of mechanical design, equipment installation, startup or project engineering experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety and work safely throughout the facility to prevent injuries to self and co-workers by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Adhere to Silgan Safety Policies & Standards, GMP guidelines, and Good Documentation Practices.
• Read, understand, and comply with all Safety Rules outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Develop and maintain Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Assist with new equipment specifications, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Design equipment layouts and production line improvements.
