Job summary

IFAB Engineering Partners Ltd. in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (intermediate) to lead on diverse mechanical designs for industrial food sector projects.

You will collaborate with designers, engineers and project managers, creating P&IDs, layouts, and system details, while ensuring conformance to codes and client needs. The role emphasizes teamwork, knowledge of HVAC and utilities, and the ability to seal drawings as Engineer of Record.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (recognized college/university)
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing, or in process
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong technical, organizational and coordination abilities

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, specialists and project managers to design optimized industrial facilities
• Interpret project requirements to develop innovative, value-driven solutions
• Develop HVAC, plant utilities, plumbing and fire suppression systems and related construction specifications
• Create P&IDs, equipment layouts, and plant/process utility distribution plans
• Act as Engineer of Record to seal drawings for building permits
• Support project managers with design work and coordination as needed
• Review shop drawings and perform site observations to validate conformance to design
• Work under Mechanical Engineering Manager to develop skills and maintain design quality
