We are looking for a collaborative and driven contract Mechanical Engineer for a heavy industry client of ours. This position will initially be offered as a 12 month contract engagement.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being close to operations, solving practical challenges, and working as part of a small, high-performing team that values collaboration and mutual respect.
Responsibilities
- Develop and stamp engineering documents, work packages, and site designs.
- Provide technical support for maintenance, turnaround, and CAPEX project activities.
- Coordinate on feasibility studies, design improvement, and project implementation.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and reliability teams to deliver safe and efficient plant performance.
- Provide advanced mechanical engineering expertise.
- Implement changes in a safe and documented manner using proper Management of Change procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility upon hire.
- 5–10 years of experience in facility Operations, Maintenance, or Engineering.
- Working knowledge of industry codes (ASME B31.1/31.3, ASME BPVC Section I/VIII, API, NACE, CSA, TSBC).
- Familiarity with project management processes (PMP designation an asset, not required).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
- Good background and knowledge of industrial scale chemical processing equipment.
- Strong and demonstrated adherence to health and safety policies and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and implement innovative engineered solutions.
- Ability to work with multiple departments to meet company goals.
