Job summary

General Fusion in Richmond, BC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Liner Production Operations team on LM26. This hands-on role offers practical engineering experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will design, build, test, and iterate components, update CAD models, perform analyses (including FEA), and help implement safe, reliable systems. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or engineering physics (mechanical specialization).
  • Minimum 2 years' post-graduation experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Experience designing, building and operating prototypes in R&D or small-volume production.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with prototyping, operating, analyzing, and iterating.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion.
  • Knowledge of materials and fabrication methods.
  • Understanding of GD&T and tolerancing implications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate custom casting and machining equipment for LM26.
  • Design, build, commission, and operate components and assemblies to improve systems.
  • Analyze past experiments to understand performance changes and guide improvements.
  • Update CAD designs of process, equipment, and as-built models.
  • Perform mechanical design with analytical calculations and FEA as needed.
  • Document design details, test plans, and results.
  • Contribute to team ideation and problem-solving discussions.
  • Promote safe work practices and a positive work environment.
  • Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
