Job summary

Fusion Fuel Cycles is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead to head mechanical engineering scope across projects, from concept through commissioning. You will coordinate input from internal teams, vendors and contractors to deliver practical, compliant, cost-aware solutions aligned with project objectives.

The role reports to the Director of Delivery - Engineering and may guide engineers, designers or partners. This is a senior, hands-on role with travel to sites and facilities as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario preferred or eligible to obtain within 6 months.
• 8+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in industrial/energy contexts.
• Knowledge of mechanical design, calculations, piping and fabrication practices.
• Experience with procurement support and vendor document review.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering services for assigned projects from concept through commissioning.
• Coordinate inputs from internal teams, partners and contractors to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Develop, review and approve mechanical deliverables including specs and drawings.
• Support design of mechanical systems such as pressure vessels, piping, enclosures and skids.
• Assess options balancing safety, quality, operability, cost and schedule.
• Review vendor proposals and documentation for alignment with requirements.
• Engage in procurement activities and vendor selection input.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with cross-functional teams; travel to sites as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

P.Eng. in Ontario (preferred)

8+ years mechanical engineering experience

Mechanical design and calculations
