Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, L.L.C. is seeking an engineer to design and review mechanical systems for nuclear power plants, including modification packages, drawings, and engineering analyses.

The role involves developing cost estimates, interfacing with clients at offices or sites, and leading engineering project teams in a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence 3 days per week.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a program ABET-accredited (US) or Canadian ABET-equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering experience or a MS degree.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear plant mechanical design.

Responsibilities

  • Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants.
  • Prepare or review functional mechanical drawings related to plant systems.
  • Perform engineering analyses and evaluations for modifications and operation.
  • Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
  • Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
  • Study options for modifications to operating plants.

Description

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

  • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
  • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
  • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
  • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
  • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
  • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
  • Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program with academic coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
  • A minimum of 1 year of engineering experience or a MS degree
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation Range

$56,236 - $80,862
