Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior engineer to contribute to nuclear power plant systems design, including modification packages, drawings, analyses, and procurement documents. You will evaluate vendor bids and study modification options for operating plants.

This role follows a hybrid schedule with in-office work three days per week and two days remote. You will develop cost estimates, visit client sites, and lead engineering teams on key projects.

Qualifications

  • BS ME with emphasis in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET/CEAB accredited program.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the power industry.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards and regulations for mechanical design of power plants.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or review modification packages for operating nuclear power plants.
  • Develop functional mechanical drawings and drawings for plant systems.
  • Perform engineering analyses and evaluations to support plant modifications.
  • Create technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
  • Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
  • Study options and evaluations for modifications to operating plants.
  • Lead engineering project teams and interface with clients on status.
  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client work scopes.

Description

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

  • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
  • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
  • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
  • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
  • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
  • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
  • Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Essential skills and experience:

  • BSME with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the power industry
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of power plants

Valued, but Not Required:

  • P.Eng license
  • Active Ontario Power Generation (OPG) security clearance

Compensation Range

$130,193 - $179,016
