With over 50 years of experience, we have successfully determined causes of loss or failure in more than 125,000 cases across various fields including Fire Investigation, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Civil Engineering, and more.

We are seeking a top-notch Mechanical Engineer with HVAC expertise and knowledge of materials to join our Vancouver, BC team. If you are serious about your work but also have a great sense of humor, we want you!

The Role

As a forensic expert, you'll solve complex cases using scientific reasoning. Your typical responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating to determine causes of damage, failures, and defects in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, materials, and fire protection systems.
  • Visiting incident sites, collecting evidence, and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Documenting background details through photos, videos, and interviews.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary experts for complex investigations.
  • Disassembling components carefully, conducting examinations, and securing evidence for analysis and court presentation.
  • Discussing findings with clients, preparing reports, and providing expert court testimony if needed.
  • Managing multiple projects and adhering to quality and safety standards.
  • Participating in marketing and business development activities.
Qualifications
  • An engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation.
  • 5-10 years of experience with mechanical systems, including HVAC; knowledge of materials science is a plus.
  • Experience in forensic or failure analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to write clear reports.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • A passion for the forensic profession and a positive attitude.
