Job description

Do you enjoy leading technical projects and tackling complex mechanical challenges?

Do you enjoy analyzing, calculating, and guiding engineering choices as much as coordinating stakeholders to bring a project to commissioning?

As part of the Groupe Paco development team, you will lead several projects simultaneously, whether it's improving our existing products, developing new ones, or designing equipment to support our production.

Don't know us yet? At Groupe Paco, mechanical engineering takes amazing forms. Our teams design lifting systems for entertainment stages (Gala Systèmes), movable floors for swimming pools (Akvo Spiralift), and custom-made industrial machines (Paco Spiralift). Technologies developed here in Quebec, on Montreal's South Shore, are now used all over the world. Here, there's no mass production: each project presents its own technical challenges and requires adapting solutions to the client's needs. It's this diversity that makes the work stimulating and allows our engineers to fully contribute their expertise. Many of our products incorporate patented technologies developed by our teams, making them unique. As a Mechanical Development Project Engineer, you will act as the technical lead for several projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for guiding engineering choices, coordinating the various development stages, and monitoring projects through to commissioning. You will have a team of designers and specialists to handle detailed design and modeling, allowing you to focus on technical direction, engineering decisions, and project success. To succeed in this role, you must possess strong mechanical expertise and be recognized for your sound technical judgment. You must be able to analyze complex problems, make informed decisions, and guide teams toward the best solutions. You must also be proficient in:

  • Materials strength calculations
  • Selection of mechanical components (motors, bearings, materials, etc.)
  • Analysis of complex mechanical systems In terms of responsibilities, you will be expected to:
  • Provide technical leadership for several development projects simultaneously.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor project progress in collaboration with the various teams.
  • Define technical directions and validate proposed solutions.
  • Perform the mechanical analyses and calculations necessary for decision-making.
  • Select the appropriate mechanical components (motors, bearings, materials, etc.) etc.).
  • Supervise design, prototyping, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Lead projects to improve existing products.
  • Participate in the development of new products.
  • Manage projects to develop new equipment to support our production.
  • Collaborate closely with the production, quality, sales, projects, and engineering teams.
Skills That Set You Apart
  • You demonstrate leadership and know how to motivate a team around a project.
  • You are rigorous, methodical, and possess excellent technical judgment.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You enjoy teamwork and working in a collaborative environment collaborative.
  • You are autonomous and capable of managing several projects simultaneously.
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of five years of experience in mechanical development, design, or technical project management.
This position is for you…

If you enjoy working in an environment where multiple technical challenges coexist, where no two projects are truly alike, and where your expertise directly influences engineering decisions, you'll likely feel right at home with us.

We Offer
  • An environment that fosters initiative, autonomy, accountability, and collaboration.

  • A hybrid and flexible work schedule.
  • Supportive colleagues during your onboarding.
