We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer to be part of a dynamic Maintenance Engineering team. We are particularly interested in a Mechanical Engineer from the Mine Industry with experience in Fixed Plant equipment such as Crushers, Conveyors, Hoppers, Screens, Slurry Pumps, etc. If you are passionate about continuous improvement, root cause failure analysis, and cost-effective repairs, this is the job for you!

This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of our Extraction and Tailings operations, directly impacting the business by interfacing with Operations and Maintenance teams to enhance reliability.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Professional Engineering designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA
• At least four years of field experience troubleshooting equipment in an operating facility, with a focus on reliability and availability
• Experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Reliability metrics
• Hydraulic systems experience is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with SAP / S4 and Fieldglass is advantageous
• Lean Six Sigma certification is beneficial
• Strong client service orientation, independent and team work skills, analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact between Production and the Rotating Engineering team, ensuring clear communication
• Participate in daily and weekly meetings to support equipment availability
• Provide updates and reports on task status and concerns
• Issue scope of work and inspection recommendations for outages and routine maintenance
• Generate reliability metrics reports
• Monitor equipment health, troubleshoot failures, and perform root cause analysis
• Conduct equipment wear analysis
• Apply continuous improvement strategies to enhance reliability and reduce costs

Location and Other Details

• Based at Syncrude Mildred Lake, Fort McMurray
• 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
• Salary based on experience and scope, following internal guidelines
