Job description

They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, but if the Romans had had access to our line of cranes and forklifts, maybe it could have been. We’re Atlantic Crane & Material Handling (), and we have the highest quality selection of cranes, hoists, under hook equipment, and forklifts in Atlantic Canada.

Our focus on innovation, technology, quality, and performance has set us above our competitors for the past 20 years. We’re looking to grow even further, and we need you to help us do just that, as our new Mechanical Engineer.

Mechanical Engineer

You became an engineer because you love figuring things out. You’re inquisitive, always asking the right questions and seeking to learn. Now, you’re ready for more – a bigger challenge, more learning and an opportunity where there is incredible room for growth and advancement.

As our new Mechanical Engineer, you will perform a wide variety of tasks, all of which are integral to the success of our company. Your primary goal will be to manage the design process of our material handling equipment, such as cranes, hoists, under hook equipment, and forklifts. You’ll handle estimating, run calculations, and use AutoCAD to prepare technical drawings.

You have a genuine desire to succeed, which is why you’ll excel here. You’re motivated, and think outside-the-box to solve interesting problems. You’ll exercise your creativity every day, digging deep into problems and drawing on your manufacturing and mechanical engineering expertise to provide solutions to our customers.

You’ll be committed to learning the full breadth of our equipment and specifications, enabling you to work independently on your projects. At the same time, you’ll love the opportunity to work collaboratively here, learning from the best and growing your knowledge every day. Success here depends on being a team player, capable of working cross-departmentally to ensure customer satisfaction.

Working @ Atlantic Crane & Material Handling Limited

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our head office in Dartmouth. The salary range is $65,000 - $85,000, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, RRSP matching, and 5 paid sick days in addition to vacation time. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

We foster a friendly, family-style culture with lots of room for growth and advancement. If you’re eager to help elevate the company to the next level of success, this is the job for you.

Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer’s License, valid in the province of Nova Scotia
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or other CAD software
  • Experience in the field of material handling is a major asset
  • Experience in manufacturing or structural steel is preferred
