Job summary

Peripheral is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to design enclosures and protective structures for cameras, LiDARs, and other capture hardware, using SolidWorks. You’ll balance thermal performance, weatherproofing, and cable management while taking designs from model to working prototype in the field.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of thermal management, weatherproofing, or enclosure design principles.

Responsibilities

• Design enclosures and protective structures for cameras, LiDARs, and other capture hardware using SolidWorks.
• Balance thermal management, weatherproofing, and cable management in your designs within the electronics constraints.
• Build and test physical prototypes using 3D printing, machining, or other fabrication methods.
• Iterate on designs based on prototype testing and feedback from embedded and robotics engineers.
• Collaborate with the embedded systems team to ensure enclosures fit and support the electronics and PCBs.
• Document designs and contribute to the team’s design library as you go.
