Job summary

ALTEN Canada is seeking a piping system design engineer to develop modular skid designs for nuclear applications and to create CAD models, P&IDs, and BOMs using SolidWorks. The role requires collaboration with construction and procurement teams and occasional client-site visits in Canada.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of piping design experience and SolidWorks proficiency. Nuclear standards knowledge and a P.Eng designation are advantageous, with strong communication and teamwork skills

Day-to-Day Activities
  • Design modular process skids (e.g., filtration skids, vacuum drying systems) for nuclear applications.
  • Develop CAD models, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, technical specifications, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
  • Size and select equipment like pumps, tanks, motors, and heat exchangers.
  • Collaborate with construction, procurement, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Troubleshoot during equipment build, testing, and commissioning.
  • Travel occasionally to client sites (e.g., Bruce Power, OPG) for field support.
Candidate Requirements
Must-haves
  • 3+ years of piping system design experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Nice-to-have
  • Nuclear industry experience (e.g., CSA N299, ASME VIII or III).
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility.
  • Knowledge of nuclear standards and codes.
  • Soft skills: Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

In accordance with our compensation practices, ALTEN is providing the salary range associated with this opportunity. Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions. The current target salary range for this role is $80,000 – $120,000 per year.
