Job summary

ALTEN Canada is seeking an experienced design engineer to join their dynamic team in Pickering, Ontario. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of design experience in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C fields, along with necessary certifications and clearances. Responsibilities include defining system requirements, developing design documentation, and ensuring compliance with nuclear standards. Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of design experience in relevant fields.
  • Clearance from OPG or Bruce Power required.
  • Must possess a P.Eng certification.

Responsibilities

  • Define system or component requirements based on constraints.
  • Develop and update design concepts and documentation.
  • Perform engineering analyses to validate design assumptions.
  • Review nuclear codes, standards, and licensing requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Evaluate design changes for safety and compliance.
  • Prepare technical reports and records.
  • Interface with suppliers and site personnel.
  • Support issue resolution through troubleshooting.

Job Description:
  • Defines system or component requirements based on safety, performance, and regulatory constraints.
  • Develops and updates design concepts, models, and technical documentation.
  • Performs engineering analyses to validate design assumptions and confirm safety margins.
  • Reviews and interprets nuclear codes, standards, and licensing requirements.
  • Participates in design reviews and technical discussions with cross‑functional teams.
  • Evaluates design changes for impact on safety, operability, and compliance.
  • Prepares technical reports, calculations, and configuration‑controlled records.
  • Interfaces with suppliers, fabricators, or site personnel to ensure design intent is met.
  • Supports issue resolution through troubleshooting, data review, or field verification.
Requirement:
  • 5 years or more experience of Design experience in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/I&C
  • OPG or Bruce Power clearance
  • P.Eng
