Job summary

A staffing agency in the technical field is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer for a 1-3 month contract in Toronto. Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working in Machine Design.
• Experienced taking basic concepts through to detail design including analysis, component selection and functional testing.
• Capable with GD&T and other industry accepted tolerancing methods.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise Autodesk Inventor models, AutoCAD drawings, BOM’s, and other engineering documentation.
• Participate in design and drawing reviews, shop floor troubleshooting, prototype builds and documentation preparation.
• Update CE marking related files and create new documents to certify machines.

Our client is an established manufacturer of packaging machinery with over 40 years of experience. They are currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join their team on a 1-3 month contract.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Create and revise Autodesk Inventor models, AutoCAD drawings, BOM’s, and other engineering documentation as required.
• Participate in design and drawing reviews, shop floor troubleshooting, prototype builds and documentation preparation.
• Create/maintain documents required to support the design effort such as open issues lists, pre-design checklists, machine layouts etc.
• Update older CE marking related files and create new ones to certify machines as CE marked

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience working in Machine Design.
• Autodesk Inventor experience is an asset
• Experienced taking basic concepts through to detail design including analysis, component selection and functional testing
• Strong attention to detail, particularly with creating mechanical layout, weldment, and assembly drawings
• Capable with GD&T and other industry accepted tolerancing methods
• Proven ability to design for manufacturing and assembly
• Basic FEA capabilities
• Experience with calculations to verify design strength
