Job summary

S&C Electric Canada Ltd. is seeking a mechanical design engineer with 3–5 years of experience in switchgear or related mechanical design.

The role requires proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD and Solid Edge, knowledge of sheet metal drafting, and strong collaboration with Mechanical and Electrical Designers. Onsite in Canada, you will prepare production drawings, BOMs, and engineering change notices while supporting manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience designing switchgear or equivalent mechanical design experience.
  • Proficient in 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD and 3D Solid Edge.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal drafting, manufacturing methods, and techniques.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Experience preparing medium‑voltage protection drawings.
  • Intermediate knowledge of CSA, IEEE, and NEMA standards for switchgear.
  • Ability to work closely with Mechanical and Electrical Designers to meet project timelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare production drawings and bills of material for Vista manufacturing per CSA/ANSI/UL standards using engineering knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Design steel details, assemblies, bus details, and bills of material in MicroStation and Solid Edge.
  • Prepare and issue engineering change notices and orders for product release and design changes.
  • Produce custom Vista production drawings in a timely manner following internal drawing standards and production schedules.
  • Produce engineering design packages ready for final checking and review in line with group practices and project requirements.
  • Analyze and recommend potential applications and custom features.
  • Support other departments (manufacturing, welding, final assembly) in production processes.

Compensation

The estimated annual base salary range is $66,099 – $87,578.26, with additional eligibility for the annual incentive plan (up to 4% of base earnings).

Key Responsibilities
