Job summary

S&C Electric Canada Ltd. is hiring an Electrical Assembler – MES for the Afternoon Shift.

You will join a production team, assemble electrical components, read blueprints and Bills of Materials, and help ensure quality and safety in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. The role offers a 38-hour week (Mon–Thu, 4:00 pm–2:00 am) with a base pay of CAD 28 per hour plus CAD 1 shift premium and a target annual incentive (AIP) of 4%.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years in electrical assembly in manufacturing.
  • Able to read basic blueprints/schematics and BOMs.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical components following schematics and BOMs.
  • Inspect assemblies for correct component placement and wiring.
  • Maintain records of tasks, deviations, and quality concerns.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards promptly.
  • Read blueprints/schematics and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • Use overhead crane and material handling equipment as needed.
  • Utilize ERP and internal systems to close jobs and request materials.
  • Mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Meet department targets and uphold quality/safety standards.

Work Schedule

Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm- 2:00 am (38hrs per week)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $28. This position is entitled to $1 shift premium per hour. This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Join Our Team as an Electrical Assembler - MES (Afternoon Shift)!

Are you passionate about assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear assembly function. As an Electrical Assembler – MES you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble moderately complex electrical components with numerous pieces and installation steps. Cut, strip, crimp, and label wires according to schematics and assembly instructions. Mount electrical components while bending conduit and routing and securing cables neatly within assemblies.
  • Inspect electronic components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring, according to quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
  • Read and understand complex blueprints/schematics and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
  • Utilize the Oracle ERP and other internal systems to close jobs and request material replenishment.
  • Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist.
  • Mentors less experienced team members in the completion of their work to help their professional growth.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • 2-3 years of experience in an electrical assembly role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
  • Ability to understand basic blueprints, BOLs, and electrical schematics.
  • Sound attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet the requirements of assigned materials requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
  • Ability to train and mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace
Physical Demands
  • Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
  • Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
