Job summary

Camfil Power Systems in Laval, Quebec, is seeking a mechanical design engineer to define and optimize 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks, aligning with project constraints, quality, cost, and schedule.

You will support the project and sales teams, prepare BOMs, review requirements, and ensure drawings meet standards; a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and 3+ years’ experience, plus bilingual English/French, are required.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.
• Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks and associated drawing packages.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes and welding symbols on drawings.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and practices.
• Relevant design and drafting experience.

Responsibilities

• Review design requirements to clearly define the scope.
• Using SolidWorks, develop and optimize the 3D models and drawing package that meets project constraints and requirements keeping in mind quality, cost and project timeline.
• Ensure design meet specification, recognized industry standards and legislation.
• Optimize design for manufacturing and cost.
• Find solutions to problems and implement into design and drawings.
• Support project engineer, the project and sales team, collaborate with other Camfil's branches depending on the project team setup.
• Prepare and optimize sales drawing and 3D models according to customer requirements based on concepts or mark-ups provided by sales engineer;
• Prepare and work with bills of material (BOMs);

• Familiar with welding processes and welding symbols on drawings;
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and practices;
• Relevant design and drafting experience;
• Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering;
• Bilingual spoken and written.
