Mechanical Designer

THE COMPANY
TalentSphere is proud to partner with a leading engineering firm as they continue to grow. They are hiring for a talented Mechanical Designer (Buildings Engineering), specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. This well-established firm has a diverse portfolio across various sectors and is known for a collaborative team environment and strong project delivery.

THE ROLE
As an intermediate to senior Mechanical Designer, you will be involved in designing and developing mechanical systems for commercial, residential, public, and institutional building projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems and proficiency in Revit and other design software.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work with senior engineers to create mechanical designs for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
2. Prepare and review detailed designs, drawings, and specifications using Revit and other tools.
3. Perform site visits to assess project requirements, verify installations, and ensure quality control.
4. Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
5. Conduct load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selection to meet project requirements and code compliance.
6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.
7. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.

WHAT'S REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design for the building industry.
• Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and sustainable design practices.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for various project types is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is preferred.
• Able to travel to sites within Alberta 1-2 times per week.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
