You will transform concept sketches, field measurements, and client requirements into detailed SolidWorks models and manufacturing packages for fabricated structures and digital display systems. The role emphasizes manufacturability, assembly, installation, and long-term performance, with a focus on sheet metal and aluminum extrusion design.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience designing sheet metal products in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced SolidWorks capabilities, particularly with weldments and sheet metal.
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques including laser cutting, forming, welding, fastening systems, tolerancing, and aluminum extrusion design.
• Experience developing custom enclosures, structural assemblies, digital signage, or LED display systems is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Translate sketches, field measurements, and client requirements into detailed SolidWorks models and manufacturing packages.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, suppliers, project management, and customers to optimize manufacturability, assembly, installation, and long-term performance.
• Design sophisticated fabricated products including structural assemblies, digital signage, enclosures, and aluminum extrusion components.

Kitchener Executive Consultants Inc. is partnering with an innovative and growing manufacturer that specializes in the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of highly customized structural and digital display solutions. Our Client is recognized for delivering technically challenging projects that combine precision engineering, advanced manufacturing, and practical field application. They are seeking an experienced Industrial Designer who enjoys solving complex design challenges while seeing projects progress from concept through to fabrication and installation.

The Industrial Designer will play a critical role in transforming conceptual ideas, sketches, field measurements, architectural drawings, and client requirements into detailed SolidWorks models and manufacturing packages. This role offers the opportunity to design sophisticated fabricated products including structural assemblies, digital display systems, custom enclosures, aluminum extrusion components, and supporting infrastructure. The Industrial Designer will work closely with engineering, fabrication, suppliers, project management, and customers to ensure every design is optimized for manufacturability, assembly, installation, and long-term performance.

Our ideal candidate brings several years of experience designing sheet metal products within a manufacturing environment and possesses advanced SolidWorks capabilities, particularly with weldments and sheet metal applications. We are seeking candidates who have a strong understanding of fabrication techniques including laser cutting, forming, welding, fastening systems, tolerancing, and aluminum extrusion design. Equally important is the ability to think beyond the CAD model by considering fabrication efficiency, transportation, installation, product durability, and future product improvements. Prior experience developing custom enclosures, structural assemblies, digital signage, or LED display systems would be considered a strong asset.

Our Client’s preferred Salary Target is $85 000 - $95 000.
