Job summary

ProEng is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer/Engineer to drive the design of HVAC, fire protection, and building systems from concept through deliverable. You will lead small projects, balance technical rigor with practical leadership, and coordinate across a multidisciplinary team in Ottawa.

The ideal candidate is a licensed P.Eng with 4–10 years of experience and a strong sense of ownership, ready to mentor others and grow into a project-management role.

Qualifications

• Licensed P.Eng with 4–10 years of experience in building systems.
• Autonomy and the ability to make independent decisions.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset for challenging engineering tasks.
• Emerging as a future project manager within the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, fire protection, and building systems.
• Validate calculations and produce technical specifications.
• Coordinate with architects and structural engineers.
• Mentor junior staff and manage agile project teams.
• Represent the firm in client meetings and proposals.
