Job summary

Vacutrux Limited in Elmira, Ontario is seeking a Mechanical Assembler Technician to join the Upfit and Assembly Team. You will perform electrical and lighting modifications, lay out and weld subassemblies, and build wiring harnesses according to schematics, using brake presses and fabrication tools.

The ideal candidate has prior manufacturing and welding experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of 12-volt electrical wiring, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

• As part of the Upfit and Assembly Team this individual will: Complete electrical and lighting modifications on trucks; read wiring schematics; wire electrical components to vehicles
• Follow installation instructions written and verbal
• Able to read wiring schematics and build custom wiring harnesses
• Layout, fit and weld subassemblies and equipment according to specifications
• Welding and fabrication of mild steel, stainless and aluminum
• Maintain tools and shop area for safe operations
• Layout and build frame mount brackets, water pump systems, drive systems, hydraulics and pneumatics

Job Description

As part of the Upfit and Assembly Team this individual will:

• Complete electrical and lighting modifications: trucks often require additional lighting, power outlets and other electrical components.
• General knowledge of electrical components such as switches, relays, fuses, circuit breaker, resistors etc. is desired
• Wiring electrical components to an assortment of vehicles
• Ability to follow both written and verbal installation instructions
• Able to read wiring schematics and use schematic to build custom wiring harnesses
• Physically able to run wiring harness along frame rails of truck and in between drive axels
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability, and functioning of, required tools and equipment within a safe work area.
• Layout, fit and weld subassemblies, components and equipment according to specifications
• Welding and fabrication required, mild steel, stainless and aluminum
• Brake press and shear experience required
• Mechanical aptitude required
• Layout and build, Frame mount brackets, water pump systems, drive systems, electrical components (12v systems), hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Skills the ideal candidate has include:

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Previous welding and fabrication experience
• High attention to detail
• Previous experience working with hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems considered an asset.
• High mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of 12-volt electrical wiring (trailers, wiring harness etc.)
• Vehicle assembly experience considered an asset
• Strong desire to learn

Job Type: Full Time – Permanent

Starting Pay: $22-25/hr
