Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited in Canada is seeking a Mechanical Apprentice (UPP00070) to support maintenance activities in the mining operation. You will work under the Maintenance Supervisor with the CMMS, ensuring accurate records and adherence to safety and environmental standards.

The role requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, registration of the target apprenticeship and blue book, and the ability to read hydraulic/electrical schematics. Teamwork and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registration of target apprenticeship and valid blue book (apprentices).
  • Ability to set priorities with limited supervision.
  • Experience reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Basic computer skills and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical manuals, work orders, and write service reports.
  • Keep equipment clean, lubricated and maintained.
  • Perform preventative and service maintenance on trucks.
  • Monitor safety and efficiency of equipment.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions; adjust and replace parts.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and compliance.
  • Perform physically demanding duties as required to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach.
  • Apply 5S principles — Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will be an integral member supporting the safe and continuous Mining operation of the site. Working in a supportive team environment, with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), you have responsibility to ensure all information recorded is as accurate as possible. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Interpret technical manuals, work orders, and writes service reports;
  • Keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained;
  • Performs preventative and service maintenance on trucks;
  • Monitors the safety and efficiency of equipment;
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions;
  • Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems;
  • Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and ensures that the work done meets manufacturers’ specifications and legislated requirements;
  • Performs physically demanding duties such as heavy lifting, working in cramped or awkward positions, climbing on/off units, getting in/out of units, working long hours if required – to meet operational deadlines;
  • Maintains a customer focused approach;
  • Appreciation of Utilisation of Availability (U of A) with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) being key;
  • Apply 5 S principles - Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain;
  • All other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Registration of target apprenticeship and valid blue book (apprentices);
  • Able to set priorities and work with at times limited supervision;
  • Ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology;
  • Experience reading & understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics;
  • Technical strength coupled with good people skills, and good planning;
  • Basic computer skills, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience in CMMS;
  • Experience working on Mining equipment an asset;
  • Teamwork and self-starting work ethic;
  • Foundational understanding in Preventive and predictive maintenance systems;
  • RPS/RCM maintenance troubleshooting techniques;
  • Leadership of a multi disciplined work group during operating and turnaround situations would be considered an asset.
