Job summary

REDPATH MINING in the James Bay area, Québec, Canada, seeks a Lead Mechanic to service underground diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air systems and lead a crew to meet safety and quality standards.

The role requires underground mechanical experience and a journeyman certification. 14/14 rotation, 12-hour shifts; travel and camp accommodations provided.

Qualifications

• Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyperson preferred.
• Minimum 3 years underground mechanical experience.
• Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blueprints) required.
• Maintenance experience on Maclean equipment, Cat and Sandvik scoop and haulage trucks, Sandvik Jumbos.

Responsibilities

• Understand scope of work per project and plans.
• Provide skilled mechanical work diagnosing, repairing and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Schedule daily work priorities, maintain inventory and records for mechanic shop; perform technical tasks.
• Train apprentices and junior mechanics and assist other trades as required.
• Perform emergency repairs to equipment as required.
• Report safety-related irregularities to supervisor.
• Accurately fill out preventative maintenance check sheets and work orders.
• Make decisions related to workplace or equipment.
• Follow proper safety procedures to limit equipment damage.
• Familiar with underground equipment braking regulations/testing and adjustments.

Travel: Flight provided or travel paid to client’s provided charter flights from Rouyn-Noranda, Val d’Or, Chibougamau, Wemindji or Montréal.

Job Summary

The primary role of the Lead Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment hoists, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature. The Lead Mechanic is also responsible for making sure their subordinates' work meets quality standards and all tasks are completed safely and in a timely matter.

Responsibilities

• Understand scope of work to be completed per project and plans.
• Provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Schedule daily work priorities, maintain inventory and records for mechanic shop; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
• Train apprentices and junior mechanics and assist other tradespersons as required
• Perform emergency repairs to equipment as required
• To note any information that has or may affect the safety of equipment, i.e. log books, check sheets, etc.
• To report to the supervisor any irregular circumstances or conditions related to his area of responsibility
• To accurately fill out any preventative maintenance check sheet related to his work, i.e., work order, warehouse withdrawal slips
• To be able to make decisions related to his workplace or equipment
• Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and limit equipment damage
• Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience on: Maclean equipment, Cat and Sandvik scoop and haulage truck, Sandvik Jumbo’s including Split Feed and miscellaneous project supporting equipment.
• Welding experience as asset
• Ability to understand work from ladder flowcharts, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to utilize and create excel spreadsheets, word documents and adobe reader
• Government Regulations and interval testing for; Fire Suppression, 5 gas analysis, NDT, pressure vessels, tire & rim, crane etc…
