Job summary

Redpath Mining Inc. is seeking an experienced underground Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and air-operated equipment at the North Mine in Sudbury, ON.

The role requires diagnosing complex systems, following safety procedures and maintaining detailed maintenance records. Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years of underground mechanical experience, hands-on work with Maclean bolters, Cat scooptrams and Sandvik jumbo equipment, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underground mechanical experience.
• Maintenance on Maclean bolter, Cat scooptram and haulage truck, Sandvik Split Feed Jumbo’s.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Welding experience would be an asset.
• Ability to read schematics and OEM manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Accurately fill out preventive maintenance check sheets.
• Follow safety procedures to prevent equipment damage.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure OEM specifications.
• Track repairs using a work order system.
• Mentor apprentices and train new employees.

Project: North Mine

Location: Sudbury, ON

Rotation: 7 days on 7 days off

Shift Length: 12 hrs day shift 10.5 hrs night shift

Salary Range: $97,000 - $117,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid

Allowance: Provided based on place of residence

Job Summary

The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment hoists, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
• Provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• To accurately fill out any preventative maintenance check sheet related to his work
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his/her duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem utilizing the schematics in the OEM manuals and or programs.
• The use of a mechanical work order system to track repairs on individual pieces of equipment.
• Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
• Comply with all Redpath and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required
• Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.

• Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
• Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
• Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
• Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underground mechanical experience
• Maintenance experience on: maclean bolter, Cat scooptram and haulage truck, Sandvik Split Feed Jumbo’s, and miscellaneous project supporting equipment.
• Strong Organizational skills.
• Welding experience would be an asset.

Knowledge Required

• Texa & Cat ET Diagnostic software
• Sandvik Toolman, Cat SIS 2.0 & Maclean Eng. Documoto digital manuals.
• Redpoint & Oracle Fusion
• Ability to understand work from ladder flowcharts, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to utilize and create excel spreadsheets, word documents and adobe reader
• Government Regulations and interval testing for; Fire Suppression, 5 gas analysis, NDT, pressure vessels, tire & rim, crane etc…
