Job summary

A leading service provider in the rail industry in Calgary, AB is seeking a full-time Mechanic Helper. This position involves maintaining and repairing equipment, assisting with inspections, and conducting routine maintenance. Candidates must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and be comfortable working outdoors. Forklift experience is a plus. This role offers an opportunity to enter the apprentice program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company and client equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with government inspections and repairs under supervision.
• Perform timely repairs on trailers, containers, and other equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance and servicing for fleet.
• Change, replace, and maintain tires.
• Drive service trucks for minor repairs within the yard.
• Assist with after-hours service calls as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Other related duties as assigned.

About MacCosham Inc.

MacCosham has been providing rail yard terminal services for over 50 years and is experienced in the management of a variety of yard configurations. In addition to our rail intermodal terminal services, including lift-on/lift-off of containers and hostler services, we also operate several container and chassis repair depots associated with rail yard terminal services, with a full range of mechanical, welding, and associated repair services.

MacCosham Inc. is looking for a full-time, permanent Mechanic Helper to join our growing team in Calgary, AB.

This position is Friday - Monday 10-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining MacCosham and client equipment in a safe and cost-efficient manner
• Assisting with CVI/government inspections and repairs under the supervision of a licensed technician
• Performing timely and safe repairs on trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment
• Performing routine maintenance and servicing, including all fleet maintenance processes
• Performing tire change, replacement, and maintenance
• Driving company service trucks to perform minor repairs on chassis within our yard
• Assisting with after-hours service calls as needed
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area
• Performing other related duties as required or assigned.
• Opportunity to enter the apprentice program.
