Job description

Support the heart of our logistics - join our team as our on-site Mechanic!
The Mechanic will maintain all mechanical equipment on site in running condition and respond in a timely manner to any work requests, and ensure all vehicles and equipment are safe to operate for all Shambhala Music Festival Ltd. (SMF) staff in accordance with governing agencies such as SVCE and MOT and SMF. The Mechanic will also ensure that the shop administration is keeping up to date files on each vehicle and equipment in the SMF fleet.

  • Position Dates: June 30 - August 1, 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance on all mechanical equipment on site including but not limited to light and heavy vehicles, generators and pumps.
  • Maintain a schedule of maintenance and log to ensure the safety and high standards of maintenance for all equipment.
  • Maintain the mechanic shop portion of the warehouse on site and work with the supply coordinator to ensure it remains appropriately stocked and that orders for replacement parts are placed in a timely manner.
  • Keep, and make available as required, complete logs of all servicing for all equipment on site.
  • Attend Daily Toolbox meetings and complete all sign-offs that you understand safety procedures.
  • Perform requested tasks, including preventative inspection of potential problem areas.
  • Monitor all Repair/Maintenance requests.
  • Ensure hours worked are documented, signing in and out with your Supervisor.
  • Maintain good communications with the Vehicle Maintenance team to ensure timely response to any mechanical failures.
  • Where regular servicing could potentially interfere with a functional area’s operations, work to develop servicing schedules that minimize downtime.
  • Report any actual or anticipated equipment downtime to the Infrastructure Manager immediately to prevent any potential level of service issues.
  • Scrutinize systems for flaws and areas to improve efficiency.
  • Report any discrepancies, potential issues or hazards to the Supervisor immediately, assist in remedy of the situation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Include:

  • 5 years’ experience working as a fully certified mechanic is required.
  • Able to operate all welding equipment on site.
  • Experience working or volunteering at festivals or other major events is preferred.
  • Familiar with a wide range of farm equipment from light to heavy and possesses sound technical skills and an ability to improvise solutions based on limited resources.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism at all times when conducting operations and interacting with patrons.
  • Take direction well.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing.
  • A committed individual and self-motivating.
  • Courteous, competent, and persuasive with a proven ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to foresee and troubleshoot potential issues, making recommendations to increase efficiency.
  • Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions.
  • Patient performing repetitive tasks.
  • Maintain awareness of the environment, sense of responsibility for fellow crew members as well as company image.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse work space without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate: $20-$28 per hour
