3rd Or 4th Year Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprentice, Castlegar, British Columbia

Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to join our maintenance team as a 3rd or 4th Year Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprentice for our sawmill.

What You’ll Do
  • Learn and assist with preventive maintenance and repair activities of our sawmill, planermill, and kiln’s hot oil system and equipment.
  • Learn and assist with installation of machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety rules and regulations, and using all personal protective gear & equipment as required.
  • Be a highly motivated team player, willing to learn, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven track record on safety.
  • This position has varied shifts, including a 3-shift rotation and/or weekend shifts.
What You Offer
  • Successfully completed 3rd or 4th year of the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprenticeship program and currently enrolled in the program in good standing.
  • Industrial maintenance exposure is an asset.
  • Strong safety background.
  • Understanding the importance of teamwork and having a positive impact on the team.
  • Open-minded and positive attitude towards change and new ways of doing things.
  • Effective communication skills with your team and other departments.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.
  • Ability to recognize problems and address them immediately.

The hourly rate for this position is: $41.37 - $42.49, based on current apprenticeship level completed.
