Job summary

Equans is seeking a 3rd Class, Refrigeration Stationary Engineer to join the Gatineau site in Canada. You will operate, maintain, and repair two 3rd class Central Heating & Cooling Plants as part of a large District Energy System, ensuring reliable energy supply.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience as a stationary equipment mechanic, certification in Class 3 heating and Class A refrigeration, and the ability to work independently or in a team within a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Pass background checks and security screenings.
• Certificate as stationary machinery mechanic: Class 3 heating, Class A refrigeration.
• 3–5 years of experience as a stationary equipment mechanic.
• Autonomy; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of control system operations.
• Eligibility to obtain a Level II security clearance from the federal government.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs plant equipment (boilers, controls, chillers, pumps, HVAC, steam systems, Pump House equipment, Electrical Substation, Energy Transfer Stations).
• Test plant equipment; maintain and clean machinery, equipment and building during operations.
• Carry out operations and startup procedures of Central Plants, Pump House, electrical Substation and preventive maintenance.
• Follow up on work with external contractors and maintain EQUANS Health & Safety Standards.
• Perform daily rounds and inspections, monitor energy consumption for efficiency.
• Maintain the water treatment standard.
