Job summary

Lake Country Co-op in Nipawin, SK, is seeking a full-time Meat Cutter (40 hours/week) at our Food Store location. You will cut, trim, grind and prepare meat cuts to customer specifications while upholding Co-op standards.

The position requires a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, prior meat-cutting experience, and strong customer service skills. You will work in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; meat cutting experience preferred.
  • Honest, trustworthy and results-oriented with strong customer focus.
  • Well-organized with high production under minimal supervision.
  • Strong service orientation and courteous, efficient customer assistance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
  • Willingness to perform physical labour including heavy lifting in refrigerated areas.
  • Familiarity with Food Safe procedures.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, trim, grind, and prepare various cuts of meat according to customer requests and store requirements.
  • Wrap, weigh, label, and price meat products to Co-op standards; maintain production records.
  • Stock and display products with well-organized, visually appealing presentation.
  • Monitor code dates; adhere to FIFO for fresh inventory.
  • Maintain inventory records, including paperwork for claims, damages, and shortages.
  • Clean and sanitize meat dept. tools, equipment, and workstations.
  • Follow Food Safe, Asset Protection, and Safety Management regulations and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Meat Team Leader, responsibilities for the position include the following:
  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, and safety principles to make a difference in members’ lives with a strong customer-focused approach.
  • Provide legendary service at all touch points through various communication channels.
  • Cut, trim, grind, and prepare various cuts of meat according to customer requests and store requirements.
  • Wrap, weigh, label, and price meat products to Co-op standards while maintaining production records.
  • Stock and display products with a focus on well-organized, visually appealing presentation.
  • Monitor code dates to always ensure the freshest inventory is on the shelf; follow First in, first out (FIFO).
  • Maintain accurate records to support inventory management, including completing paperwork for claims, damages, and shortages.
  • Clean and sanitize meat department tools, equipment, and workstations.
  • Support and follow Food Safe, Asset Protection, and Safety Management regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; previous meat cutting experience and meat cutter trade certification is an asset.
  • Honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and proud of the work that you do.
  • Well-organized and capable of attaining a high level of production with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Strongly service-oriented, motivated, and capable of assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
  • Able to fulfill physical labour job requirements, including regular heavy lifting and working in refrigerated and freezer environments.
  • Familiar with Food Safe procedures and practices.
  • Flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
