Job summary

School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay) seeks a Math/Science teacher for grades 9-12 at Fernie Secondary School. The position is a 1.0 FTE temporary contract starting September 15, 2026, through June 25, 2027, or until the incumbent returns.

Candidates must hold BC Teacher Certification and have degree/formal training and teaching experience in Math and Science at the secondary level, with on-site work required.

• Experience teaching Workplace Math 10, Workplace Math 11, Foundations 12, Math 9 and Science 9.

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $70,392 to $119,187, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary

Math/Science Teacher - Grades 9-12

1.0 FTE temporary contract, starting September 15, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process to June 25, 2027, or return of the incumbent.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience in Math and Science at the Secondary level.

This position is scheduled to include Workplace Math 10, Workplace Math 11, Foundations 12, Math 9 and Science 9. Please note that all work will be on site.

Please note: Continuing teachers will need to vacate their continuing assignment in order to accept a temporary assignment, unless the FTE is greater in the temporary job posting.
