Job summary

School District 5 Southeast Kootenay in Fernie is seeking a Math/Science Teacher for Grades 8–10 on a 0.857 FTE temporary contract starting September 9, 2026 and ending January 29, 2027. The role requires a degree or formal training and/or teaching experience in Math and Science at the Secondary level, with on-site duties at Fernie Secondary School.

Preference for BC Teacher Certification; all terms governed by the provincial collective agreement; applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records

Qualifications

• Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in Math and Science at the Secondary level.
• Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.
• Must meet posting-specific subject/level requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach Math/Science to Grades 8-10 on site at Fernie Secondary School.
• Deliver Grade 8 Math/Science, Grade 9 Math/Science and Grade 10 Science instruction.
• Contract runs 0.857 FTE from September 9, 2026 to January 29, 2027.

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $60,325 to $102,143, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
