Job summary

Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, seeks a Registered Nurse for Women & Children’s Health–Maternity on a temporary full-time basis. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and infant care in a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires CNO RN in good standing, recent labour/delivery experience, and relevant certificates (Fetal Health Surveillance, breastfeeding). OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing.
• Recent within the last 2 years Labour and Delivery experience.
• Valid Fetal Health Surveillance course within the past 2 years.
• Breastfeeding Certificate (20 hours).
• Operating Room experience within the last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with the College of Nurses, organizational and unit standards.
• Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
• Responsible for making clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided within available resources.
• Admit, assess and monitor labouring/delivering mother.
• Scrub and circulate for the operative procedure of C-section.
• Provide health teaching to patients and family.
• Be cognizant of and participate in development of Nursing and Unit objectives.
• Comply with legislation, organizational/departmental regulations, standards and safety procedures.
