Job summary

M1 Composites Technology Inc. seeks a Materials & Processes Engineer in Laval, QC to act as the technical authority for aerospace materials and manufacturing methods.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerospace metallic and composite materials, adhesives, coatings, sealants and related processes.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP requirements and special process controls is an asset.
  • Experience with NDI methods and defect detection for composites.
  • Understanding of CMH-17, MMPDS, ASTM/SAE/ISO/MIL standards.

  • Develop, qualify, implement, and improve aerospace materials, repair, and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate and approve materials for repair and manufacturing applications.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documentation and process parameters.
  • Provide technical support on material selection and processing challenges.
  • Plan, execute, and document material and process qualification and testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and internal quality systems.
  • Support audits, supplier qualifications, and NADCAP requirements where applicable.
  • Participate in design reviews, repair development, and certification activities.
  • Contribute to the introduction of new materials, processes, and equipment.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and work instructions; prepare test reports.

Your Impact

As a Materials & Processes Engineer, you will serve as the technical authority for aerospace materials and manufacturing processes. You will ensure that materials, repairs, and manufacturing methods meet the highest standards of safety, quality, performance, and regulatory compliance while supporting innovation and operational excellence across the organization.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain, you will develop and qualify materials and processes, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our repair and manufacturing capabilities.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop, qualify, implement, and continuously improve aerospace materials, repair, and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate, select, qualify and approve metallic, composite, adhesive, coating, and other aerospace materials for repair and manufacturing applications.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documentation, including material and process specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process parameters.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams on material selection, processing, manufacturing, and repair challenges.
  • Plan, execute, and document material and process qualification, validation, and testing activities, including the qualification of special processes and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, airworthiness regulations, aerospace standards, and internal quality management systems.
  • Support internal and external audits, supplier qualifications, and NADCAP requirements where applicable.
  • Participate in design reviews, repair development, engineering change initiatives, certification activities, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in the introduction of new materials, processes, technologies and equipment.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, and work instructions
  • Prepare and execute test plans, analyze results, and prepare test reports
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing or MRO environment (required).
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace metallic and composite materials, adhesives, coatings, sealants, and their associated manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Experience developing, qualifying, validating, and optimizing aerospace manufacturing or repair processes.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace standards and specifications, including CMH-17, MMPDS, ASTM, SAE, AMS, ISO, and MIL specifications.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) methods, inspection capabilities, and defect detection for composite structures.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality systems, airworthiness requirements, and civil aircraft certification regulations (14 CFR Part 23 & Part 25).
  • Familiarity with NADCAP requirements and special process controls is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written*.
  • The position requires a very good knowledge of English, both oral and written. The position involves reading and understanding technical documents in English on a daily basis, especially from international companies, as well as regular communication with customers, suppliers and other international stakeholders.
