Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a Technical Expert in Engineering - Materials and Processes, Composites to work at the Marcel-Laurin Plant. The role focuses on composite materials and manufacturing processes within aerospace, requiring strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates hold a materials/chemical/mechanical engineering degree with 8–15 years in aerospace/military production, and proficiency in English and French.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical or Mechanical engineering
• 8 to 15 years of aerospace/military production experience
• Knowledge of MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO, SAE specifications and CMH-17
• Knowledge of composite materials used in aerospace (epoxy carbon fiber prepreg, fiberglass, aramid fibers, phenolic resins)
• Knowledge of flammability regulations is an asset
• Knowledge of main composite manufacturing processes, controls, and inspection methods
• Fluency in English and French is required
• Ability to work in a team with technical experts and technicians

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks in a diversified range of engineering fields, mainly on composite materials and processes
• Develop first part qualification test plans, analyze results and write test reports. Review similar test plans and reports written by subtier suppliers.
• Review and approve engineering drawings and manufacturing techniques sheets
• Collaborate with Production, Methods, Quality & Logistics to resolve day-to-day production issues related to material and processes
• Support process improvement and cost reduction projects per schedule and highlight risks/issues in a timely manner

In your role, you will:

How to thrive in this role?

As our ideal candidate,

• You have a degree in Materials, Chemical or Mechanical engineering from an accredited university
• You have 8 to 15 years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment
• You are knowledgeable about typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO, SAE specifications and CMH-17
• You have an extended knowledge of the different composite materials that are used in the aerospace industry, mainly epoxy carbon fiber prepreg, but also fiberglass, aramid fibers and phenolic resins
• Knowledge in flammability regulations and requirements is an asset
• You are aware of the main composite manufacturing processes, their controls, and inspection methods
• You are knowledgeable in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings.
• You are adept at solving engineering problems quickly and independently
• You have proactive mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of commitment
• You have excellent communication skills in both English and French
• You must be able to work in a team environment and interact daily with technical experts, Professionals and technicians
• You are proficient with CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
