Job summary

New Flyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is seeking a Materials Coordinator to oversee receiving, shipping, shop floor planning, and point-of-use materials within a cell-based environment.

You will implement engineering change orders, manage budgets, monitor material metrics, and support a fast-paced manufacturing team. APICS certification and Oracle experience are valued.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in inventory control within a manufacturing setting.
• APICS certification or currently enrolled in APICS programs.
• Experience with Oracle is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced analytical abilities and ability to interpret information quickly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate materials functions in a cell concept setting with materials, manufacturing engineering, production, and quality assurance.
• Implement engineering change orders to released jobs.
• Assist in developing, communicating, and deploying departmental policies, guidelines, and tools.
• Assist in maintaining the material department budget including indirect labor, overtime, materials, and travel.
• Monitor, measure, and meet all material metrics.
• Monitor line entry schedule and part status before and during build processes.
• Perform cell audits to ensure inventory accuracy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all activities associated with the Materials department. Responsibilities include receiving, shipping, shop floor, planning, and all point of use locations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Coordinate materials functions in a cell concept setting within a team environment including materials, manufacturing engineering, production, and quality assurance
• Implement engineering change orders to released jobs.
• Assist in the development, communication and deployment of departmental policies, guidelines, and tools to ensure success in all processes.
• Assist in maintaining the material department budget with indirect labor, overtime, materials supplies, communication devices, and travel.
• Monitor, measure, and meet all material measurements.
• Monitor and reduce negatives to zero, monitor line entry schedule and part status prior to and during the build process.
• Perform cell audits to ensure inventory accuracy
• Between 3- and 5-years’ experience in an inventory control position preferably within a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with Oracle would be an asset.
• APICS certification or currently enrolled in APICS programs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret information quickly.
• Exceptional computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
