Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking a Materials Buyer in Brantford, ON to support timely and cost-effective procurement for manufacturing operations.

You'll work closely with operations, production, inventory and suppliers to improve material availability, purchasing processes and overall supply chain performance. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in purchasing in manufacturing, strong negotiation skills, ERP/MRP experience and a related diploma.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in purchasing, procurement or materials within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory management and production requirements.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and managing ongoing vendor relationships.
  • Comfortable working closely with production teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing of raw materials, supplies and other production requirements to support ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Source, evaluate and develop supplier relationships with a focus on cost, quality, reliability and lead times.
  • Issue purchase orders and monitor outstanding orders to ensure materials arrive according to production requirements.
  • Work closely with production and operations teams to anticipate material requirements and prevent shortages or production disruptions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and help establish appropriate reorder points and purchasing practices.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery expectations with new and existing suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate purchasing, reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
  • Address supplier, quality, delivery and material availability issues as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information and relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with production scheduling, inventory, shipping and leadership to align purchasing activity with operational priorities.
  • Track key purchasing metrics and provide visibility into material costs, lead times and potential supply risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of more structured purchasing and inventory processes as the operation continues to grow.

Job Summary

Our client, an established manufacturing organization, is seeking a Materials Buyer to join its growing operations team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials required to keep production running efficiently. Working closely with operations, production, inventory and suppliers, the Materials Buyer will help improve material availability, purchasing processes and overall supply chain performance. The Ideal Candidate
  • 2+ years experience in purchasing, procurement or materials within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience within industrial products would be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory management and production requirements.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and managing ongoing vendor relationships.
  • Comfortable working closely with production teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing requirements.
  • Analytical and commercially minded with an ability to evaluate pricing, lead times and supplier performance.
  • Confident communicator who can build productive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of purchasing activities.
  • Experience working with ERP, MRP or inventory management systems is preferred.
  • Strong Excel and general computer skills.
  • A diploma or degree in supply chain, business, operations or a related discipline is an asset.
