Job summary

Morskate Manufacturing in Ponoka, Alberta is seeking a dependable Material Handler to keep production running smoothly. Reporting to the shop supervisor, you will move, organize, and stage materials throughout the facility to support production and shipping.

The role requires operating forklifts and overhead cranes safely, maintaining records, and collaborating with yard and shop teams. We offer permanent, year-round employment with competitive wages and benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• Forklift operation is required.
• Experience in a fabrication environment is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in a busy shop.

Responsibilities

• Stage raw material for fitters in a safe and timely manner using overhead crane and other mechanical aids
• Load fabricated structural steel products onto wagons using overhead crane for primer application
• Removal of finished structural steel product on wagons from production facility and stage for yard forklift operators to move to designated laydown areas
• Palletize smaller finished products, strap and mark accordingly to be removed from shop using forklift for yard team to move to designated laydown areas
• Clearly communicate and work collaboratively with equipment operators cutting parts, fitters requiring material, as well as the yard team of forklift operators receiving the finished product from the shop
• Maintain good housekeeping in shop by removing empty pallets, wood and plastic, etc. and placing material accordingly
• Maintain forklift equipment by performing pre-use inspections and troubleshoot issues
• Safe operation of overhead crane and mobile equipment for material movement
• Maintain excellent attendance record
