Job summary

Steel Technologies in Canada is seeking a Material Handler to support plant operations. You will gain exposure to finished goods, learn about customers and end products, with potential for unlimited growth opportunities.

You will inspect material, ensure accurate documentation, follow work instructions, move shipments, perform crane/forklift inspections, and train new employees as needed. The role is hands-on, safety-focused, with two-week rotating shifts and overtime after 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to use tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect material for transit damage and defects.
• Compare shipping documents to ensure complete information with receiving material and identification to ensure accuracy.
• Follow work instruction to prepare material according to customer spec.
• Organize orderly movement of incoming shipments into appropriate area.
• Perform daily crane and/or forklift inspection and documentation where applicable.
• Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent material damage.
• Maintain safe arrangement and organization of storage area including cleaning and housekeeping of the material storage area.
• Train new employees as needed.
