Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Material Handler to support our plant operations in Canada. You will gain exposure to finished goods, learn about customers and end products, and contribute to safe material handling with potential for growth and advancement.

You will work with tape measures, micrometers, and calipers to verify specifications, follow safety procedures, and assist with crane or forklift checks. This role offers rotational shifts and benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• Ability to use tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, with typical limits at 10, 25, and 75 pounds

• Inspect material for transit damage and defects
• Compare shipping documents to ensure complete information with receiving material and identification to ensure accuracy
• Follow work instruction to prepare material according to customer spec
• Organize orderly movement of incoming shipments into appropriate area
• Perform daily crane and/or forklift inspection and documentation where applicable
• Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent material damage
• Maintain safe arrangement and organization of storage area including cleaning and housekeeping of the material storage area
• Train new employees as needed

As a Material Handler at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to support our overall plant operations. In this role, you will have exposure to our finished goods and learn more about our customers and end product. This position will have potential for unlimited growth opportunities.
