Job summary

Steel Technologies Canada seeks a Material Handler to support plant operations and gain exposure to finished goods, customers, and end products.

You will perform general labor, move material and packing, and have opportunities for growth. This role involves training new employees and maintaining safe storage practices across the warehouse.

Qualifications

• Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred.
• Ability to use measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers, calipers).
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare material according to customer specifications.
• Package material using turnstile, downlayer, banding line, overhead crane, and forklift.
• Pull proper material from storage for transfer to storage area or equipment.
• Transfer material from machines to scales or storage area as required.
• Maintain safe storage and handling of all material.
• Prevent material damage through proper handling procedures.
• Maintain organized storage area and perform housekeeping.
• Train new employees as needed.

Job description

As a Material Handler at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to support our overall plant operations. In this role, you will have exposure to our finished goods and learn more about our customers and end product. Through general labor tasks and moving material and packing, this position will have potential for unlimited growth opportunities.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

• Follow production information to prepare material according to customer specifications
• Package material by operating turnstile, downlayer, banding line, overhead crane, and forklift
• Accurately pull proper material from storage for transfer to storage area or to equipment as needed
• Transfer material from machines to scales or to storage area as required
• Maintain safe storage and handling of all material
• Ensure proper handling procedures to prevent material damage
• Maintain safe arrangement and organization of storage area including cleaning and housekeeping of the material storage area
• Train new employees as needed

• Starting Wage $21.00 per hour with Shift premium $0.75 for Afternoons and $1.25 for Nights

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
